The event was a big deal… and I was in charge of recording it permanently.

My friends all thought it would be easy for me because I was known as "tattoo guy" in our circle of friends. Sure, I had done a bunch of them… and even made a couple that were not too bad… but to tell you the truth…

I was totally stressed out!

You see, my friend was only planning on getting married once… and he wanted everything to be right.

He was handling all the details of the wedding so it was just perfect… but of course all the recording of the event was left up to me.

And I definitely wanted the pieces for him and his new wife to go great.

My friends were excited too, and they expected me to come through and do some awesome stuff.

All this pressure and the worst part was…

I had no CLUE where to start!

I had never recorded someone's life event before.  Just practice pieces on skins and myself.

And of course, other tattoo artists wouldn't reveal the details of their first time …they had been scared too.

I had a ton of questions:

• How do I do a great job even when I might feel shaky (what should I do?)…
• What designs do I know how to do?
• How far in advance should I do it to make sure they heal right and look great for the wedding?
• How do I make sure that my work does not look amateur?

And a truckload more of questions were keeping me up at night!

That's when I decided that no matter what, I was going to make these tattoos ones my friends would talk about for YEARS to come…

How I Became Tattoo "expert"

Am I an "expert"? Yeah, I am real damn good. Here's why...

I really decided I was going to figure this tattoo thing out...so I started studying about what it takes to make a good tattoo in general.

I figured, since there are people who make outrageous livings tattooing —there has got to be a lot I don't know!

I got into studying it and doing it and improving it for more than 16 years.

I ran my own shops.  These shops became award winning.

Over all those years I listened to what people wanted in the pieces they got.

 Here's what I found out...

It's Easier Than You May Think!

Turns out creating, and applying a great tattoo (no matter what kind) is not out of reach for the dedicated student once you know a few of the right basics.

Some of the reasons are:

• Good technique can help you improve the stuff you're not good at (a clean well executed piece will look a lot better than a sloppy piece done by a great sketcher).
• You don't need to spend a lot of money.  You do need to spend the time to learn.
• A good tattoo artist focuses on what it means to your customer as much as making it just look good…

And you don't need be a rocket scientist to figure it all out.

That's the big secret.

In fact, what I discovered was that there are only a few guidelines, techniques and tactics that can have your tattoo skills improving without a hitch once you know them

I searched and searched for a real guide to learning tattoo.

You know a book that just wasn't filled with kindergarten looking stencils and stuff that tells me how great a tattoo artist the author is.

I don't want to be promised a tattoo "bible" that tells me something that I don't already know.

I just want to know...what are the basic tips that launched the professional artists today?

They've got to know something I don't if they do it every day, and get paid big bucks for it!

Just teach me those tips, was what I was thinking.
